What version of Windows? 2003? 2008?

Configure AD? Can you be more specific? Add users, etc.?

Well, PowerShell *on Server Core* isn't supported, so you know how to go with using supported tools like WMI and WSMAN, especially if you're looking to do this remotely. I'd say WSMAN (winrs command-line) is your best bet to be able to interact with the Server Manager install. I can't remember any of the commands right now...

I'm not sure about the automation steps for AD at this point, but I'd think there's something you can do to get the process started.

I'll try to look at it some more, but it will be a few days, or perhaps someone else will be able to provide faster help...

so powershell wont run at all on server core? whys that? I suppose what im really after is a framework to deploy and configure services on windows 2008 servers. I thought powershell was supposed to do all of this. Prehaps i just have the wrong idea?

Thanks

Luke

Nope, you can't *officially* install the .NET framework on Server Core. Furthermore, there isn't a supported way to install PowerShell v1 on it either.

If you want to *test* it however:
