From looking at your other post it appears you found Get-ACL cmdlet. Let us know if you have more questions about it.

looking at the time stamps, I would say that he posted this after finding the bug in get-acl. (BTW great find, you really would expect both get-acl and rename-item to support -literalpath.) I believe he is asking our developer friends how you get the ACL without using the get-acl cmdlet.

Not sure why your against get-acl, but you can call GetAccessControl() on System.IO.Fileinfo http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.fileinfo_methods.aspx

This should get you what your after.
