What is the status of PowerShell v2.0? It seems to be in CTP mode indefinitely.

Well, Microsoft has given pretty regular updates on the PowerShell team blog if you follow that, and occasional news at conferences. It was never expected to be a quick upgrade, really. Here is the current deal as I know it:

    - V2 will be released concurrently with Windows 7 & 2008 Server R2
    - CTP3 is to be released imminently (this month, and there ain't much of that left)

For more news, check the PowerShell team blog http://blogs.msdn.com/powershell

Also, we're interviewing the PowerShell guys tomorrow night at 9pm EST on the powerscripting podcast (http://powerscripting.net)

V2 for Windows Vista, XP, 2003, etc. will be available approximately 2-3 months after Windows 7 is released.

I am now running Windows 7 on my workstation, and Server 2008 R2, and Powershell Version 1.0 is on both. I checked the website, and CTP2 of v2.0 is the latest available download. Was there a delay?

    You may want to check:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/powershell/ar...oning.aspx

You're saying you're running v1 because you see it in a "v1" directory?

    Do:
    PS>$psversiontable

    Correction, it appears I'm running 2008 SP2, not R2.

You have PS V2 on your Windows 7 machine, and if you were running R2, you'd see it there as well. It won't be available for downlaod for Vista & 2008 until GA (general availability) which is in October, and I believe we've been promised to have the bits for XP & 2003 within 60 or 90 days following that. That's my understanding, anyway.

You are correct, I was trying to figure out the command for version info and found a v1.0 folder.

    PS C:\> $psversiontable

    Name Value
    ---- -----
    CLRVersion 2.0.50727.4927
    BuildVersion 6.1.7600.16385
    PSVersion 2.0
    WSManStackVersion 2.0
    PSCompatibleVersions {1.0, 2.0}
    SerializationVersion 1.1.0.1
    PSRemotingProtocolVersion 2.1
