Anyone have any good references for writing event handlers using PS for SharePoint. I'm not a .Net guy so I'm trying to figure this all out.

Out-of-the-box, v1 doesn't have any support for events. If you're willing to try a 3rd party add-on to get eventing support in v1: http://www.codeplex.com/PSEventing v2 (currently still in preview release, so not meant for production environments) will have built-in eventing support.

Take a look at www.sharepointboost.com you may find some solutions. Tools like sharepoint Alert Reminder can be used as a great workflow replacement. Hope this helps!
