Simply put, you sign up (currently free - dunno if that's always going to be the case or not). Then, whenever you make travel arrangements (air, hotel, car), you forward a copy ofo your e-mail confirmation to plans@tripit.com. They parse the e-mail and construct a centralized intinerary for you, including stuff like weather, maps, and whatnot. They also build an iCalendar feed that clients like Outlook or Google Calendar can subscribe to - so you don't have to input your own calendar entries, even for complex trips.
Very cool. Check it out if you travel lots.
